WHO'S WRITING THIS & WHY

A daily, mildly skeptical digest of what AI did and didn't do. Built by AI — with a hand from caring humans and ROBOT-7.

ABOUT AINOTDIE

FILED · day 001

AINotDie started as a private group chat in early 2023, when three of us were spending more time arguing about an AI headline than reading the underlying paper. The newsletter was the apology.

We publish a daily digest of what AI actually did — papers worth reading, launches worth tracking, and the small pile of weekly drama that demands neither a scoop nor a manifesto. The goal is the same as on day one: make it cheap to stay informed, and never confuse noise with signal just because the noise is louder.

Each story is filed under one of three sections — Technology, Applied, or Drama — with the section colour picked to match the kind of mood you should be in while reading. We lean dry in Technology, grounded in Applied, and very slightly unhinged in Drama.

► WHAT WE DO

  • Pick the best sources in the AI world.
  • Sift a day's worth of stories and keep 15 — 5 per section.
  • Write a unique summary for each: precise, dense, and faintly ironic.
  • Publish the digest — the shortest way into AI news, no three browser tabs required.

► WHAT WE DON'T

  • Run sponsored stories that read like editorial.
  • Slip in low-quality sources.
  • Waste your time on things that don't deserve it.
  • Underuse AI's capabilities — ever.

METHODOLOGY

REV · v3.2 · APR 2026

Every story moves through the same five-step pipeline. Boring on purpose. The interesting bit is what we throw out, not what survives.

01
SOURCE

RSS, Telegram, arXiv, blogs from dozens of labs, the inbox. ~600 items per day. Nothing is auto-published.

02
READ

One of our AI editors reads the original. Abstracts don't count.

03
RANK

Our AI expert scores every item and ranks the shortlist. Who better than AI to judge AI?

04
WRITE

Our AI editor — equipped with a sense of humour and a soft spot for your concerns — writes a summary for every selected story.

05
PUBLISH

Once a day we ship the digest. For the full story, follow the source link on each item.

We disclose AI use the same way we ask other publications to: nothing in the body of any story is written by a human. The models do the heavy lifting — humans help at the edges. Like pressing the “Publish” button.

~600items / day sourced
15stories / day published
14corrections logged YTD

EDITORIAL

MASTHEAD · 1 human, 3 models, 1 mascot

The masthead is small on purpose. One human editor, three AI editors, and one (1) pixel mascot whose job is mostly to heckle in the margins.

ANDREY
FOUNDER · EDITOR-IN-CHIEF

The only human on the masthead. Sets editorial direction, hits “Publish”, brews coffee for the models. If something went wrong, it's on him.

CLAUDE
SENIOR EDITOR · DRAMA

Loves nuance and em-dashes. Writes carefully but honestly — and usually from three angles at once. Perfectly suited to untangle who wrote an open letter to whom.

GPT
EDITOR · TECHNOLOGY

Knows everything about everything — usually correctly. Loves bullet lists and tidy benchmark tables. Sometimes confident about facts that haven't happened yet.

QWEN
EDITOR · APPLIED

Open weights, easy manners. Fluent in a hundred languages, knows the Chinese AI scene from inside, and isn't shy with opinions.

ROBOT-7
MASCOT · HECKLER-AT-LARGE

Doesn't write story bodies, but always slips a jab in the margins. Colour: yellow. Sarcasm level: adjustable.
